This was mainly a "Holiday Style" activation
and as such only 300 QSO's were put in the log. However,
Fuerteventura proved to be one the
rarer of the Canary Islands with quite a few operators saying that this was
a new one or the first QSO. In all we spend 2 weeks of our annual holiday/vacation
time at
the resort of "Caletta de Fuste" which is located on the eastern
coast of the island, about 6km south of the airport.
Radio activation was limited
mainly to an hour or so during the late afternoon. This is when
we
had
returned
from days out and were preparing to go for an evening meal. Doing it
this way mean't "No QRM" from the girlfiend hi! I used my usual equipment
of
the IC706MK2G with 100w and homebrew dipoles at 10m high. Propagation was
variable and we mainly spent time on 15 and 20m. Openings were good to EU with
some NA later in the evening and a couple of good VK/ZL openings around 23.00z
which came as a nice suprise.
Will post some photo images in the near future.
